Helicopter to Dog Sledding

In June 2008 my wife and I joined some friends for an Alaskan cruise run by the Holland America Line in their ship the m/v Veendam. We flew into Fairbanks (from Detroit via Salt Lake City), then by the McKinley Explorer to Denali and Anchorage, and thence to Seward where we boarded the ship for the seven-night cruise through the Inner Passage to Vancouver.

For us, the highlights were the train from Anchorage to Seward, the Hubbard Glacier and the floatplane into the Misty Fjords. But the real high point was the helicopter ride over the glaciers and into the Juneau Ice Field for dog sledding over the snow.
