Cordoba and the Mezquita

The Alhambra

Rita and I first visited Spain for our honeymoon in December 1971. Back then Mojacar had one decent hotel, donkey transport and nothing at all on the beach apart from a Paradore hotel.

We returned to Mojacar in April of 2006 and 2009 to find it still very recognisable but very much more developed, particularly the Playa (beach) which is now a small town in its own right.

Our other trips have been for no more than three nights, though Cordoba was a day trip from Granada and Torremolinos filled in a couple of hours before flying out of Malaga.

Whilst the Mezquita in Cordoba is quite incredible, our favourite has to be Santiago de Compostela, where the Cathedral has a dominating but benign and calming presence in the centre of the old town..
